The prophet’s legacy in the scriptures was a legacy of promoting truth at any cost by any means.

You don’t have to abandon either [moral compassion or moral standards]. You have compassion in the micro and standards in the macro. Too often on the left, they abandon standards in the name of compassion and too often on the right, we abandon compassion in the name of standards. There is no reason on earth not to have both.

America has been a unique experiment… What has been made in America defies human nature; it is better than human nature. It is being undone and it is unbelievably easy to bring an edifice down. It takes a long time to build a building; it takes a moment to blow it up.

If there were any place better for you than the one in which you find yourself, Divine Love would have placed you there.

We have a civilization that is in the midst of what Karl Stern called The Flight From Woman. We extol action over contemplation, doing over being, analysis over intuition, problems over mysteries, success over contentment, conquering over nurturing, the quick fix over lifelong commitment, the prostitute over the mother.

Kurt's Thoughts / Quote for Today
Thu Jul 03, 11:47 AM by Kurt Mosley
My dad sent me an email a few days ago which gave the fates of the 56 signers of the declaraion of independance. I thought it was pretty fascinating, but when I looked up the email in snopes, I found the truth to be even more interesting. I decided for the 4th of July that it was worth posting the entire article. This is a long piece and probably not strictly in the “Quote” category, but I thought it worth passing on…
Click Here for the snopes article and email.
Just a quick thought – while the email gives you the impression that these men were willing to make big, almost saintly sacrifices for our country, I found the truth in the snopes article to be even more interesting. The snopes article gives me the impression that these guys were by no means saints and by no means idealists. It brought their sacrifice out of legend category.
The effect of that is, I believe, to teach that these guys were everyday people and had no better insight to their fate at the time than we have today with ours. The point is that these guys just tried to do what was right and true to the best of their own vision. If people today would do likewise, it would do wonders for our country.
